Citizens Academy in March 2019!
We are excited to announce that the Spencer Fire Department will be conducting its first ever Citizen Fire Academy. This 7 week program is intended to be a unique opportunity for the citizens of the Town of Spencer to learn about the operation of the Spencer Fire Department and experience some of the basic training associated with being a firefighter. The program begins on Wednesday March 13, 2019 and runs each Wednesday evening until April 24, 2019. Topics will include a history of and look into the operation of the Spencer Fire Department, proper use of the gear and equipment with hands on demonstration, rescue techniques, CPR and first aid, as well instruction on how to be "fire safe" in our homes. Each citizen who completes the program will receive a CPR certification and a certificate of completion for the program. To ensure safety, class size will be limited to 15 citizens at least 18 years of age. Applications will be available at the fire station or can be emailed by request.
